Full Fixed Denture Home - Treatments - Full Fixed Denture
Removable dentures are now a thing of old. We are now equipped to restore your complete set of teeth, permanently. Various implant plans like All on 4 or all on 6 implant protocols can be used for this procedure, which acts like a substructure on which the porcelain crowns or bridges are placed. Full fixed denture results in restoration of facial esthetics, cutting down years in your appearance. Along with this, implant supported full mouth rehabilitation restores function and fit, enabling you to eat, talk and smile without a glitch!
- All on 4: All on four is a viable alternative to placement of full arch implants for complete mouth rehabilitation. Four dental implants are placed in the bone, in special angulations without the need for bone augmentation. Special abutments are used so that a temporary set of replacement teeth can be placed the same day. After about 6 months, once the implants have integrated completely with the bone, the permanent replacement will be placed and you can assume a regular diet.
- Pterygoid and zygomatic implants: Many a times, the bone in the upper jawbone is just insufficient for placement of implants and no bone augmentation procedure can guarantee sufficient anchorage of implants. In such cases support can be derived from additional bones placed higher than the maxilla (the upper jawbone). These are the pterygoid and zygomatic bones. Mini dental implants are placed in these bone and the restoration derives support from them.
WHAT IS All-on-4 IMPLANT DENTURE?
All-on-4 is a treatment procedure that essentially involves replacement of all missing teeth in one jaw by using only 4 Titanium implants and fixed artificial teeth.
HOW ARE IMPLANT DENTURES DIFFERENT FROM REMOVABLE DENTURES?
Saving Jaw Bone: When teeth are lost, ongoing shrinkage of the jawbone makes the face look older. Dental implants can slow down or stop this jaw shrinkage process. Since bone is preserved, dental implant supported teeth will feel like your own natural teeth.
More Comfort: Since dentures rest on the jawbone and gums, continuous shrinkage of the jaw bone alters the fit of the denture resulting in slipping or rocking of the dentures. Exposed nerves and irritation of the gum tissue may further add to the discomfort. Implant supported replacement teeth are like natural teeth because they are anchored securely to your jawbone. Dental implants eliminate the discomfort and movement of removable full or partial dentures.
Improved speech: Loose fitting dentures slip and slide around the mouth. The facial muscles become tense in an attempt to hold the teeth in place. This often results in mumbling, muffled speech or clicking noises. Implant supported artificial teeth allow you to speak with confidence in a relaxed and natural tone. Improved Self Esteem: Considering all other benefits, dental implants can also improve your self-esteem. You may feel better about yourself. You can regain nearly all the capabilities that most people e with natural teeth, giving you renewed confidence, and enhancing quality of life.
Eat Better: The average denture patient with an excellent fitting denture eats at 15-20% efficiency when compared to a person with natural teeth. As the jawbone shrinks, your chewing efficiency is reduced even further, making it difficult to eat certain foods. Dental implants can restore chewing efficiency comparable to that of natural teeth. A complete upper denture covers the roof of the mouth and reduces the ability to taste foods. Implant based denture do not cover the roof of the mouth and hence you can taste and enjoy your food better.
Convenience: Dental implants can eliminate the numerous embarrassing situations of removable dentures. You will no longer need to cover your mouth when you laugh out loud or sneeze, due to fear that your denture will pc-,p out or fall down. You will eliminate the use of gooey denture adhesives that have to be re-applied throughout the day.
